Two piano masters come to Radford in March

Radford, VA (02/23/2023) — On March 3, at 7:30 pm, Dr. Chi-Long Hu will perform at Radford University. Hu has served as the Sandra G. Powell Endowed Professor of Piano at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville since 2016.

Originally from Taiwan, Hu has played as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States. His performances have been broadcast on NPR and his recent concert work has included Rachmaninov, Mozart, Schumann and Gershwin.

On March 15, French pianist, Dr. Mathilde Handelsman, will play selections from Schumann at 7:30 pm. Her 2020 debut album, Images, featured works by Claude Debussy and two new albums are expected in 2023-24.

Handelsman studied at the Paris Conservatoire and received her doctorate from the Shenandoah Conservatory. She currently teaches at the University of New Hampshire.

Both concerts take place at the Davis Performance Hall in the Covington Center for the Arts on Radford's main campus. They are free and open to the public with no tickets required.
