March Madness

Women's college basketball has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years with increased fan engagement and heightened media coverage surrounding the game and its star players. Radford assistant professor of sport management Tiesha R. Martin, Ph.D., said she believes that "many people are just as excited for the women's tournament as the men's tournament." Martin is available to speak about the growth of women's sports, particularly at the college level. Martin, whose expertise centers on sport for social change, can discuss how athletes are leveraging social media platforms to connect with fans, build personal brand and advocate for gender equity. Martin can also address the broader cultural shifts toward gender equality and how advocacy from athletes and organizations has pushed for equal pay, better representation and increased opportunities in sports.
