Radford, VA (11/01/2021) — Radford Rides Defense and Scores Twice to Move Past Charleston Southern - Radford University Athletics

RADFORD, VA. - The Radford women's soccer team advanced with a 2-0 victory over Charleston Southern in the Big South Quarterfinals Saturday night. Reese Degnan and Lily McLane provided the goals in Radford's seventh straight shutout victory.

The first half was a defensive showcase by both teams. Lauren Seedlock proved crucial in a pair of saves that kept the Buccaneers off the board including an incredible diving save in the 41st minute. It was the second save of the night for Seedlock and she would finish with four while posting her seventh straight clean sheet.

Tied up at 0-all heading into the second half, Radford kept the theme of the season by battling hard late in games. Radford finally broke the scoreless tie thanks to Degnan who ended up in the right place at the right time after a shot by Kat Parris ricocheted off the Buccaneer goalie.

With the game at a 1-0 lead, Radford didn't let up. Five minutes later it was McLane who added the second goal of the night. McLane came in behind the first play on the net that the goalie broke up and she didn't hesitate to place a perfect shot in the middle of the net.

The Highlanders would hold on from there and seal up a 2-0 victory, another shutout for what has turned into an incredible streak of victories for the Highlanders as of late.
