News Advisory: Radford University to hold disaster training simulation for nursing students
Radford, VA (02/19/2026) — Radford University will hold a disaster day training simulation on Thursday, Feb. 26, to prepare undergraduate nursing students for mass casualty situations, such as natural disasters and active shootings, through hands-on education. Students will become Stop the Bleed certified, which empowers individuals to identify and treat life-threatening bleeding.
As part of the interprofessional training, Radford University will work with several departments and external organizations, including the university's police department, Carilion employees, Radford University EMS, and community EMTs.
Schedule:
- 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - Stop the Bleed
- 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Drill Simulation
