MEDIA INVITATION: Radford University Spring Commencement Events Scheduled

Radford, VA (05/03/2022) — Radford University will celebrate spring commencement with ceremonies May 6 and 7.

The College of Graduate Studies will host a hooding ceremony for students receiving masters and doctoral degrees at 5 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Dedmon Center, 101 University Drive, Radford, Virginia The ceremony includes all graduate programs at Radford University main campus, RUC (Radford University-Carilion), RHEC (Roanoke Higher Education Center) and Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.

Stacey Price '99, M.S. '01, will be the university's first graduate hooding ceremony keynote speaker. Price has two decades of experience activating community. Price, first an economic development consultant and now a talented curator, is on a mission to grow the maker economy.

The undergraduate graduation ceremony is set to begin at 9 a.m. at Moffett Lawn on the Radford University main campus.

Nick Mayhugh '18, a Paralympic gold medalist and international track star, will speak at the undergraduate ceremony. Mayhugh, a former Radford University men's soccer player, traveled to Tokyo, Japan, in August 2021 as part of the U.S. Paralympic track & field team and dominated three of the four races in which he competed.

Organizers will monitor the weather forecast carefully. Light to moderate showers will not prevent commencement from being held outside at 9 a.m. on Moffett Lawn. If severe weather appears likely to impact commencement, regular updates will be provided via email to our graduating students. Should the university need to move to the inclement weather plan at the Dedmon Center, ceremony-specific tickets must be secured, with five tickets allotted per graduate.
