Media Advisory: Radford Gives Back Community Celebration TODAY

by Justin Ward

Radford, VA (09/27/2023) — TODAY, Sept. 27, Radford University students, faculty and staff will help people in Radford City who are in need of food. They have been busy this month donating, collecting and packing food items for the eighth annual Radford Gives Back event.

TODAY at 5 p.m. at the MAC court inside the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, campus volunteers will participate in packing the items during the community celebration.

Radford University partners with Bobcat Backpacks, a nonprofit community organization that serves Radford children with weekend food insecurity. The fall 2023 goal is to match the previous collection total of 15,000 items. Reaching the goal will provide 140 children with weekend food for three months.

"Radford Gives Back is a beautiful partnership and a special event," said Associate Vice President for Student Life Tricia Smith. "Bobcat Bobcats was founded by Radford University alumni, and this ongoing program helps current students, faculty and staff continue that spirit of service that our dedicated alumni developed during their time at Radford."
