Radford, VA (04/13/2023) — The Radford University accounting faculty, along with members of the IRS-Criminal Investigation Division, are hosting a daylong IRS Criminal Investigation Citizen Academy for about 50 students from both Radford and Bridgewater College.

Students will be sworn in, will participate in classes on developing basic case background information, analyzing tax returns and bank records, and seeking and filing warrants for searches and arrests. The program will culminate with demonstrations of mock-arrests.

In addition to IRS field agents and personnel, the event is also slated to involve the participation of Dean Joy Bhadury, Department Chair Doug Brinckman, Bridgewater Department Chair Holly Caldwell-Taylor and Radford University Police Chief Eric Plumber.

The IRS Citizens Academy Training Program will begin at 8:20 a.m. at Radford University's Kyle Hall in Room 340, with breakout sessions across the day, and it is scheduled to run through 4 p.m.

Media note: Please refrain from photographing or recording personnel who are wearing red ribbons pinned to the front of their uniforms.
