Internationally acclaimed Pianist Nick van Bloss returns to Radford University as international artist in residence

Radford, VA (02/05/2026) — Internationally acclaimed English pianist Nick van Bloss returns to Radford University on February 9 for his second semester as the Department of Music's International Artist in Residence.

Van Bloss has forged a distinguished international career marked not only by extraordinary musical artistry, but also by remarkable resilience in the face of significant personal adversity. He has presented documentaries for the BBC and has been featured extensively across major international media. His extraordinary life and musicianship were also highlighted by renowned neurologist and author Oliver Sacks in Musicophilia, one of the most influential books exploring music and the brain.

While many artists of van Bloss's stature concentrate their work in major cultural centers such as New York or Los Angeles, he has chosen Radford University as a place to invest deeply in students, creativity, and artistic growth in the United States.

During his residency, van Bloss will engage closely with students through individual instruction and masterclasses. Two masterclasses will be open to the public on Thursday, February 19, and Thursday, February 26. He will also present a public recital on Thursday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m. In addition, van Bloss will attend student performances, offering feedback, encouragement, and mentorship grounded in his belief that successful artists unite imagination with a clear understanding of their own artistic voice.

Nick van Bloss will serve as International Artist in Residence at Radford University through Spring 2028, continuing his commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians and artists.
